Abrazio

In the hollow of its lines, two beings come together.
Abrazio is a sculpture born of an obstinate quest: to find the right gesture, the point of balance between strength and abandon. I undid, redid and redid again, until I felt that the piece was breathing on its own.

Its satin-black patina reveals taut, powerful curves that convey both the tension and gentleness of the embrace. We read the bond, the fusion, the silent promise of a love that stands the test of time.

A sculpture born of a long dialogue with matter

Made from terracotta, Abrazio became an obvious choice over the months. At each stage, the material invited me to let go, to listen to the movement that was taking shape. This piece taught me patience: the patience required to find the right line, the inner breath that runs through the form.

When the balance was finally revealed, the emotion was immediate – like an encounter. This is no doubt why I remain so attached to this sculpture: it bears the imprint of an inner journey, one of perseverance and faith in the gesture.

The embrace, symbol of a universal bond

Abrazio evokes love in all its forms: tenderness, support, fusion. It tells of the quiet strength of two united beings, in a movement that is both anchored and upward.

The light glides over the lines, accentuating the fluidity of the gesture, as if the embrace continues to vibrate beyond the earth.
