Inner movement

Le Bel Élan seems to emerge from an inner movement, like a breath taking shape.
Its stretched body, almost lying on the ground, suddenly shoots upwards in a gentle but irresistible impulse.
It’s a sculpture that doesn’t try to impress: it breathes, it stretches, it unfurls.

The golden patina, crossed by copper highlights, gives it a lively, almost organic character.
It looks like the birth of a movement, a being awakening, an energy opening up.
In this ascent, there is a simple joy, a quiet freedom: a surge of life.

The sculpture blends anchorage and lightness: the broad, flowing base evokes the earth, while the slender top traces a trajectory towards the light.
Everything in this form speaks of expansion, growth, a breath that takes its place.

An expanding figure

At the heart of the piece is an ascending energy – like a force that moves through the material to push it beyond itself.
The movement is not linear: it stretches, rears up, folds back slightly before opening up.
This dynamic gives Le Bel Élan an almost musical presence: one could imagine a chord, a vibration, a rhythm that continues.

Sculpture embodies the moment when the self rises, when something inside decides to go further, higher, truer.
It is the expression of a vitality that is awakening, of a subtle but certain affirmation.

The expression of life

As in many of Catherine Chavigny’s works, Le Bel Élan explores the link between form and the living.
Featureless, faceless, devoid of figurative detail, the sculpture nevertheless tells a story: that of the inner movement that precedes all action.
A push towards existence, a first gesture, a beginning.

Its generous curve, warm material and almost palpable breath make it an invitation to open up.
To dare to move forward.
To listen to the discreet force that runs through us and sometimes simply asks permission to exist.
