L’Envol
Five figures, united by the same energy.
Initially, they formed a circle, symbolizing unity and connection. But as the work progressed, a new dynamic emerged: one of them broke away, rose up, dragging the others along with it.
Thus was born L’Envol – from a fertile imbalance, from an inner movement that became visible.
This sculpture recounts that moment of passage when we leave our protective circle to follow a vital impulse.
It speaks of freedom, of the courage to move forward, of that intimate gesture by which we rise, while retaining the memory of the link.
In its ascending lines, we guess a breath, a light, a breath.
A work that transcends matter
Shaped in light-colored clay, L’Envol seems to defy gravity. The five forms soar upwards, glossed with a soft patina that catches the light and underlines the fluidity of movement.
The piece is now placed on a metal base, extending this upward momentum, as if the earth itself were yearning for lightness.
Nothing here is set in stone: the silhouettes slide towards each other, lean against each other, respond to each other. The void circulates between them, essential to balance.
This is a work inhabited by the tension of life – that fragile moment between anchorage and flight, between belonging and freedom.
The power of transformation
L’Envol was born in a period of transition, both personal and creative.
My original intention was to represent a family, a harmonious whole. But life, like sculpture, has shown me that balance is never immobile: it can be recreated, transformed and opened up.
I see this rising figure as a metaphor for renewal.
It embodies what we become when we dare to follow our own movement – even if this destabilizes the whole.
For every liberation presupposes an imbalance. And it is in this imbalance that the beauty of the gesture is born.
L’Envol speaks of this: the movement towards the light, the courage to be oneself, the breath that passes through us when we agree to rise.
