Suspended moment
A slender silhouette, motionless in its ascent, Instant suspendu seems to float between earth and sky.
Its soft, almost diaphanous white form evokes a presence that stands on the edge of movement: neither completely stable, nor completely on the move.
It captures that precise moment when time seems to stand still, when being develops in a fragile equilibrium, when everything is still possible.
In this fine, stretched verticality, we perceive a breath.
A light tension, like that of a body ready to rise – or to fall again.
The piece lies in this rare moment: suspension.
This calm vibration, this in-between that precedes the gesture.
It gives the impression that the sculpture breathes, that it absorbs the light to better let it circulate along its pure curves.
Between presence and lightness
With its light, satiny patina, Instant suspendu plays with the radiance of light.
The subtle hollows at the bottom of the form create an illusion of opening, of passage, like an interior door.
The silhouette unfolds upwards, but remains anchored by an almost imperceptible base.
This contrast creates a poetic tension, a delicate balance reminiscent of Catherine Chavigny’s most ethereal pieces.
In her notes, Catherine often evokes “those pieces that rise straight up to the sky”, inspired by nature, stretched tree trunks and the verticality of living things.
Instant suspendu belongs fully to this family: a slender gesture, a gentle energy, a momentum that holds back as much as it unfurls.
In praise of the fragile moment
In this sculpture, it’s not about an accomplished movement, but a state.
That inner moment when you catch your breath, when you stand between a before and an after.
A moment of listening, of subtle expectation, of vibrant calm.
Instant suspendu invites us to slow down, to contemplate, to recognize the beauty of what does not last.
It is neither a departure nor an arrival: it is the purity of the present.
The expression of the living when it ceases to want and is content to be.
In this full immobility, we sense a silent force.
The sculpture embodies that precious moment when the spirit gathers, when everything is suspended to make way for the essential.
